PO: 6. Improved employment opportunities on labour market
In the Central Baltic region, young people above 25 living in rural areas of Estonia, Latvia,
Finland, and Sweden face significant challenges in accessing digital and cybersecurity career
opportunities. Despite the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals across the region,
rural youth are often excluded due to a lack of beginner-friendly training, limited mentorship,
poor digital infrastructure, and few local role models. This restricts their opportunities to
build sustainable careers locally, hindering entrepreneurial initiatives and the development of
local tech ecosystems. Many of these youth lack the skills and resources needed to enter the
cybersecurity job market or start their own businesses, which could help retain talent within
rural areas. As a result, many feel forced to relocate to bigger cities to pursue education or
work in the digital economy-draining rural communities of their talent and potential. We are looking for rural municipalities and employment bodies for our project. pls reach out through veli@olemisen.fi
